Privacy policy

Elderwild Fishing ("the game") is made by BeefyGames ("we"). This policy covers the game at elderwild.net and the Elderwild app on Google Play, which shows the same game.
What we collect
If you play offline, nothing leaves your device. Your settings and offline progress are kept in your browser's local storage on that device.
If you create an account, we keep:
- Your character name and password. The password is never stored as typed: we keep only a salted, one-way hash of it.
- Your game progress: coins, diamonds, level, items, outfits, fish log, aquarium, titles and similar.
- Sign-in sessions: a random token that keeps a device signed in. We store only a hash of it, and it expires 180 days after it was last used.
While you're online, the server passes your character's position, look and actions to other players so they can see you. Chat messages are shown to other players. The server keeps the most recent 30 chat messages and catches so players who join can see what was just said. Notable catches, with your character name, may appear on the in-game records board.
Player reports. If you report another player, we receive your character name, theirs, the reason you picked, anything you wrote, and their recent chat messages. Reports are emailed to us, and who reported whom is kept for a day to spot repeated reports. It's never shown to other players.
Bug reports you choose to send include the text you write, the game version, your browser and your screen size. They're emailed to us.
Network information. Like every website, our host (Cloudflare) receives your IP address to deliver the game. We use a one-way hash of it only to limit spam bug reports. We don't use it to find your location.
Blocked players are remembered in your browser's local storage on your device. We don't receive that list.
What we don't do
- No ads, and no advertising or tracking code.
- No analytics services.
- We don't sell your data or share it with anyone. The only other company involved is Cloudflare, which hosts the game.
- We don't ask for your real name, email address, contacts, location, camera or microphone.
Children
The game is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Deleting your account
In the game, open the pause menu and choose Delete account. Or go to elderwild.net/delete-account and enter your character name and password. Either way, your character, password, progress and sessions are deleted straight away, along with your entries on the records board, your recent chat messages kept by the server, and reports you made or that were made about you. This can't be undone.
